4th Festival of the Arts

On June 10, 11 and 12, and for the fourth consecutive year, the Corral de la Paca cultural association is proud to present its FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS in Jimena de la Frontera.

The Festival's objective to bring together three Arts: painting and sculpture, the circus and music so as to attract the young, via the 'hook' of the circus, and immerse them by becoming participants.

This year is significant because it is the centenary of DADAISM. The dadaists promote change, the freedom of the individual, spontaneity, the immediate and the random... we want to render tribute to them.

The inauguration will take place next Friday, June 10th at 8:30 pm, with the opening of the 2016 OPEN STUDIOS collective exhibition. Eleven recognized painters and sculptors are present.

The Inaugural Gala is to be presented by D. Eduardo Sáenz de Varona, doctor at law, professor and poet.

Participating artists are: Roderic Stokes, Jill Adesigbin, Catherine Fender Hall, Patricia Lucas, Juan Soler, Práxedes Gómez, Melisa González Morgan, Juan Lobillo, Clodagh Thornton, Gonzalo Polo and, as Invited Artist, the young painter from Madrid, Julia EME.

Following the inaugural ceremony will be the León Island Dixieland Band at 10:30.

Saturday the 11th, from 10:30 am, is dedicated to the young with a crafts workshop called 'The Cardboard Circus'. Juan Ángel Gómez and Anja Tidemann will teach the children to create puppets of circus characters.

Sunday the 12th, at 1 pm, is the Circus Gala, in which the circus school's students and guests will show their considerable skills in this Art. The Gala closes with a performance by Mike 2 Perillas, who presents his show: 'This Country is a Circus'.

The art exhibition is to remain open from 10 am to 9pm on the Fesival weekend and during the rest of the week (from June 13 to 19) during the evening, from 6 pm to 9 pm.
